HORSE RACING

Horse Racing is one of the best platforms to launch your Corporate Hospitality program. The fashion, excitement, exquisite facilities and hype associated with the event all combine for a memorable experience. Racedays are held all across the country at racecourses such as Flemington, Caulfield, Moonee Valley, Rosehill, Randwick, Eagle Farm, Doomben and Morphetville. Corporate Hospitality options at these venues include marquees, corporate suites, dining rooms and packages with grandstand seating.

WHERE ARE RACE MEETINGS HELD?

Horse races are held all across Australia with the major meetings occurring in the capital cities of Melbourne (Flemington, Caulfield and Moonee Valley Racecourse) and Sydney (Rosehill and Randwick Racecourse). There are also many country race meetings across Australia that feature some of the best racehorses starting their campaigns for the major Group 1 city races.

WHAT ARE THE MAJOR RACES?

The biggest races in Melbourne are held during the Melbourne Cup Carnival which is a part of the Spring Racing Carnival. The four meetings during Melbourne Cup week are Derby Day, Cup Day, Oaks Day and Stakes Day and these are some of the biggest events in Melbourne. Other prominent race days during the Spring Racing Carnival are Cox Plate Day at Moonee Valley and Caulfield Cup Day and Caulfield Guineas Day. The highlights of the Autumn Racing Carnival include Super Saturday at Flemington and Blue Diamond Stakes Day at Caulfield.

The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival is highlighted by the Golden Slipper at Rosehill and the big race meetings at Randwick; Derby / Doncaster Day, Oaks Day and Cup Day. In Queensland the major races include the Magic Millions, Doomben 10,000 and the Stradbroke Handicap, while Adelaide hosts the Goodwood Handicap, Adelaide Cup, SAJC Oaks and Derby. New Years Day in Perth sees the running of the Perth Cup while the Railway Stakes is also popular.

WHAT’S THE BIGGEST RACE MEET IN AUSTRALIA??

Without a doubt the Melbourne Cup Carnival is the biggest week is racing in Australia, if not the world and all of the races are held at Flemington Racecourse. The week is centred around the Melbourne Cup which is held on the first Tuesday in November and has been dubbed “The Race That Stops The Nation”. The previous Saturday is Derby Day, while the following Thursday is Oaks Day (also known as Ladies Day). The following Saturday is Stakes Day (Family Day). POLO

The Polo offers a fresh and exciting option in Corporate Hospitality. Each year the major Polo events are held in Sydney and Melbourne and the days have an atmosphere somewhat like a relaxed version of the Spring Racing Carnival, with suits and ties swapped for slacks and shirts.

WHAT ARE THE MAJOR POLO EVENTS IN AUSTRALIA?

The largest in Australia is the Portsea Polo held mid-January in Victoria at Point Nepean. Other key events include the Christmas Polo, Melbourne Cup and International all held at the home of Polo in Victoria, the Werribee Mansion. Other major polo events in NSW include The International Test held in late March by the Windsor Polo Club and the Royal Easter Show.
